Hyphen: Help Children Burundi Hyphen — meaning “a hyphen” — is a Christian organization founded in November 2013 in Burundi by Pastor Joseph Désiré Kirimwumugabo.

Hyphen’s mission is to defend the right to life for orphaned and vulnerable children in Burundi — the right to attend school and receive the care they need. Most of the children supported by Hyphen have lost their parents and were forced to leave school due to lack of tuition fees, supplies, and uniforms.

Despite the many children in similar situations who are in urgent need, Hyphen is currently supporting 20 children from Grade 7 to Grade 11. In addition, the organization cares for 10 younger children, providing food, clothing, and healthcare. These children now attend school free of charge, up to Grade 6.

💧 Clean Water Project: Hyphen also runs a water project that has provided clean drinking water to many residents of Mwaro Province since its founding.
